On the morning of September 10, BUCEA held a cooperation meeting with the China Office of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). The two sides discussed multiple areas of collaboration, including hosting international academic conferences, professional engineer qualification certification and training, academic publishing and database resource sharing, talent development and faculty exchange, as well as joint research projects. CHEN Zhaohui, Vice President of BUCEA, YI Tinghua, Vice President of BUCEA, and Paulo Lopes, Head of China for the IET, attended the meeting.

In her speech, CHEN Zhaohui introduced BUCAE’s educational characteristics, disciplinary strengths, and achievements in internationalization. She pointed out that BUCEA and IET have broad prospects for cooperation in multiple dimensions. She made four suggestions: first, jointly build a high-level international academic conference brand; second, actively introduce the IET international professional engineer certification system; third, deepen cooperation in journal publication and academic database development; and fourth, expand faculty and student exchanges and visits, and establish joint research platforms.

YI Tinghua expressed the hope that both sides will establish a sound and regular cooperation mechanism, strengthening collaboration in areas such as joint training for international professional engineers, co-founding high-level international academic journals, promoting those journals to be included in renowned international databases, and actively preparing for the establishment of an IET student chapter.

Paulo Lopes introduced the development profile of IET, its global network, as well as its development strategy and key focus areas in China. He expressed strong expectations for carrying out multi-level and substantive cooperation projects with BUCEA, jointly promoting China-UK collaboration in engineering education and scientific research.

During the open discussion session, representatives from both sides exchanged views on specific topics, including hosting international conferences, collaboration on academic journals, the establishment of IET student chapter, professional training programs, engineering course accreditation, expert resource recommendations, and Sino-foreign cooperative education initiatives.
