YI Tinghua elected ASCE Fellow

Professor YI Tinghua was elected Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in recognition of his achievements and contributions in scientific research, engineering practice, and talent development in the field of health monitoring and maintenance of long-span bridges.


ASCE Fellows are elected through a rigorous review and voting process conducted by a panel of distinguished experts in civil engineering. Only 3% of ASCE members attain this prestigious honor. Nominees are required to have achieved internationally recognized accomplishments over the course of their professional careers.

Professor YI makes innovative progress in key areas such as precise detection of hidden defects in long-span bridges, rapid assessment of load-carrying capacity, and dynamic performance monitoring and early warning. Related technologies have been implemented in projects including the Huangpu Bridge over the Pearl River in Guangzhou and the Xiangshan Harbor Bridge in Ningbo. He is a recipient of multiple honors awarded by ASCE, including the Greater China Distinguished Leadership Medal, Best Research Award, Best Paper Award, Editor’s Choice Collection, and Outstanding Reviewer.
