On September 22, Professor Mikhail Alexandrovich Guzev, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, along with a delegation from Perm National Research Polytechnic University, visited BUCEA and delivered a special academic lecture. The meeting was attended by BUCEA Vice President YI Tinghua, as well as personnel from the Department of External Affairs and the School of Civil and Transportation Engineering.

YI Tinghua introduced BUCEA’s history, educational characteristics, and landmark achievements in serving the urban and rural construction of the capital. He emphasized that Perm National Research Polytechnic University has distinctive strengths in fields such as modern urban planning and energy development, which align closely with BUCEA’s academic structure and development vision. Since the two universities began their exchanges in 2023, significant progress has been made in joint training and research cooperation. BUCEA looks forward to using this visit as an opportunity to further promote practical cooperation in areas such as joint training at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels, joint applications for international cooperation projects, and the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements. This will help deepen China-Russia higher education exchanges.
Prof. Guzev introduced the strong research foundation and platform resources of Perm National Research Polytechnic University in areas such as green building materials and engineering construction technology. He expressed hope to collaborate with BUCEA on joint research and international project applications in these fields. He also looks forward to both universities leveraging their educational resources to explore joint training mechanisms, enhance channels for faculty and student exchanges, and improve the professional skills and international capabilities of both faculty and students. Through this exchange, the two universities aim to inject new momentum into Sino-Russian cooperation in the fields of architecture and civil engineering.

A Sino-Russia Workshop on Rock Mechanics and Engineering was then held. Experts and scholars from both sides gathered to engage in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge technologies, the latest research findings, and engineering case studies in the field of rock mechanics.

At the meeting, Prof. Guzev gave the first keynote presentation, systematically elaborating on Russia's groundbreaking achievements in the areas of deep rock mechanics, underground engineering disaster prevention, and control. Prof. QI Chengzhi and Prof. MA Chao from the School of Civil and Transportation Engineering at BUCEA each delivered academic reports based on their respective research areas. Prof. QI presented on Theoretical Study of the Size and Strain Rate Coupling Effect on the Tensile Strength of Rock Materials, while Prof. MA gave a report on Nonlinear Unified Strength Criteria for Geotechnical Materials and Its Application in Soil. Members of Prof. Guzev’s team also shared their research outcomes.
